Artist Statement Painting is a time for me to be reflective, and to be absorbed into the paint so thoroughly that all other problems around me seem to fade away. It is a setting where I can let the paint, brush, and canvas be my primary focus, and where I can let my sense of touch guide me through the process. My paintings are meant to be gestural, capturing not just the physical characteristics of a person, but more of their essence and mood at that particular moment in time. More than anything, painting is for me a celebration of the paint itself.
